Dr. Hjort was born in Minnesota, but finished high school in Massachusetts. She went to undergraduate school at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She graduated in 1989 & moved to Alaska the following year, where she worked for the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.

After deciding on a chiropractic career she moved to Utah to ski & finish prerequisites for school. She returned to Minnesota in 1999, attended Northwestern Chiropractic College in Bloomington & graduated in 2002. She completed her 3 month residency in Sweden in 2002.

Dr. Laura, her husband Bill & their growing family live in Milaca, Minnesota. She enjoys family time, running, biking, skiing, yoga & gardening.
